Biography
Luang Pho Chaem was the most revered abbot of Wat Chalong (Wat Chaitararam) in Phuket.He became widely respected not only as a spiritual teacher but also as a protector of the people during times of unrest.
Role in Phuket History
During the Angyee Rebellion (Chinese miners’ uprising) in 1876, Luang Pho Chaem:
Provided protective charms and holy cloths
Used yantra tattoos (sak yant) and blessed objects
Gave moral strength and spiritual confidence to villagers
His guidance helped the local people defend themselves and restore peace. After the conflict, his reputation spread throughout southern Thailand.
